Property types

Property types are the categories you assign to listings: Villa, Apartment, Office, and so on. They are defined per agency, so the list is entirely yours.

Open the page with the Property Types button on the property list. The page is headed "Property Types — Property categories (e.g. Villa, Apartment, Office) used on listings."

Everyone can open this page and see the list. Only administrators see the buttons that create, edit, activate or delete a type.

What a type is used for

It appears in the Property Type dropdown on the property form.

It decides which custom fields appear on that property. See Custom fields.

The list

Each type is a row showing its name, an Inactive tag when it is switched off, the number of properties using it, and its description when one is set.

Creating a type

Click New type.

Fill in the form.

Click Create.

Editing a type

Click the pencil icon on the row. The same form opens with the values filled in, and the button reads Save.

Activating and deactivating

The eye icon toggles the type between active and inactive. An inactive type disappears from the dropdown on the property form, but properties already using it keep it.

Use this instead of deleting when you want to retire a category without touching existing listings.

Deleting a type

Click the bin icon. A confirmation appears:

If nothing uses the type: Delete the type "<name>"?

If properties use it, the same question plus: Warning: <count> property/ies use this type. They will be left without a type.

Note
Deleting does not delete the properties. It clears the type from them, and they show as having no type until you set a new one.

Empty state

With no types configured the page reads "No property type configured" and "Create the first type so you can assign it to properties.", with a New type button for administrators.

The property form shows a matching hint when the list is empty: "No property types configured yet. Add them from Properties → Types."
